The Ram, Butcher, Suicider and my mother in law. How to guide on killing Dead Island zombies.
Zoknowsgaming has dwelved into the pit of hell and put together a excellent guide on beating Dead Island enemy’s.
Dead Island walkers
Your classic zombie. Slower than a wet rag but deadly with his homies.
How To Handle Them: These guys are nothing special and probably the most commonly encountered zombie in Dead Island. They are slow and cumbersome. Kicks are very effective against them and once they are on the ground they are easy to take out. Against large groups a fiery cocktail works wonders and will turn them to ash. Any melee weapon works just fine and I wouldn’t waste my precious ammo on these guys.
Dead Island Infected
Best described as your classic “28 days later” zombie. Aggressive, agile and fast enough to catch you buy surprise with your pants down.
How To Handle Them: Saying these guys are fast is an understatement. If you don’t watch yourself and heed their screams you’ll find yourself quickly overwhelmed if 2 or more get on you. If you hear them scream you better get ready, don’t try and run, you’ll just die tired. If you can, put an obstruction between you and them and try to keep them at bay. An example would be jumping on top of a car and kicking them down to the ground, or getting behind a desk and using a longer weapon to give you the advantage. While taking them out at range is a good option, I still wouldn’t break out the firearms to cope with them.
Dead Island Floater
Looking like a fat kid who loves cake, these puffy bastards not only take a beating and then some, they’ll chunder on you from a distance.
How To Handle Them: Okay so these guys have a ranged attack, but they are very slow on the move. When alone, there not too hard to deal with but grouped with other enemies they can be a real problem. If you encounter one on his lonesome, I’ve found that I you can spam kick it to death. Just run up on him and kick the hell out of him as fast as you can hit the kick button. It might take a bit, but you’ll be safe, not take damage, and save durability on your weapons. When grouped with other enemies, it’s best to lure those other enemies to you while staying out of the range of his projectile attack, and then after you’ve slain the others, go kick his ass.
Dead Island Thug Zombies
Huge sons of bitches who spent to much time in the gym before getting infected. Not the fastest but one of the most powerful.
How To Handle Them: Think of these guys as the jocks you went to school with, they’re big and stupid. The best way I’ve found to kill them without getting slammed is to outsmart them, which is easily done. Get one to follow you and put an obstruction between you and him like a desk or a gravestone. He will walk into it and keep walking straight into it trying to get to you. In my opinion blunt objects work well against these guys, as I’ve yet to be able to actually sever through their limbs with an edged weapon. At any rate, once they are walking into the obstruction use hit and run tactics smack him and then back off let him swing then go back and punish him some more.  Sometimes an obstruction isn’t available. Get out a cocktail and give him what for, usually one will do the trick, just hit him with one then keep your distance and let the fire do the work for you. I’ve tried guns on them in the past and it is not a very effective option.

this article was helpful seeing as though i just got the gsme
Thug – Kick then back off, he may try to swing at you but may roar instead. If he starts to roar, run in there and melee with your weapon of choice. Usually time for two or three hits then back off and repeat. Hitting him with objects may also knock him to the ground and you can have your way with him.
Floater – Usually they are found with friends. Draw out the friends first and smite them. Depending on your weapons, you can try to throw some created weapons which works well for me or just run in there, get behind him and use your weapon of choice or kicks (as said in another comment).
Butcher – I used Deodorant Bombs the once or twice i ran into these guys. Its a weapon mod, dont remember how or where i got it from but does some serious damage. i have not come across enemies that can take the full force and survive.
Rams – They only take damage from behind so if your quick (as said in another comment) then dodging and attacking sounds like a good method, i have never tried it. You can usually find an explosive container near these guys. Pick it up, throw it in his path, dont get too close, throw a knife or fire off a round to blow up the canister as he gets near it and that should do most of the damage if not all. Otherwise, if you have a Sticky Bomb mod, they work best. I upgrade them one or two levels, hit the bastards anywhere with it, it will stick, then get away from him. Its a good idea to have a hiding spot or a large vehicle you can get on to get away after throwing the knife but be sure its far enough away, the blast can take you down too.
Infected – The timing (as said in another post) works well. I use mod machetes and slice the heads off as they run at me. If there are a group of them and nothing to jump on then kick, this will delay them for a second as you seem to be able to kick multiple targets at once, then melee attack. Higher ground is by far the easiest method for any normal zombie enemies.
So to sum it up, if you have the mods, use them. For the harder enemies that just wont die, sticky bombs, deodorant bombs, incendiary devices (guy in the warehouse in the city can make them for you out of bleach), grenades (purchase in the jungle), explosive canisters and hell, molatov cocktails even. My rule of thumb, if it explodes violently, it kills violently. Dont ask where i find the mods as i couldnt tell ya since i dont remember. There must be a guide out there that gives some hints. Im the type to explore every house, cabin, hut or what have you to see what goodies might be within but be aware that good things arent free. The cost is usually some health so know where your energy drinks are or if you like to take up inventory slots with medkits, keep some on hand.
